HGST HTS545050A7E680 was a hard drive model created by HGST. It was a 5,400 RPM 2.5" 7 mm hard drive model, succeeding the Hitachi HTS547550A9E384, upgrading to SATA 3.0, 500 GB/platters, and reducing platter count to one and z-height to 7 mm. Units prior to 2014 were based on the Jaguar-1B platform, whereas units since 2014 were instead based on the Jaguar-1BR platform, which introduced a new top lid and label. It complements parent company Western Digital's WDC WD5000LPVX-xxV0TTx, being produced concurrently prior to being discontinued. This model was succeeded by the HGST HTS545050B7E660, which was based on Western Digital's HubLT2 platform despite being branded as HGST. It competed against the TOSHIBA MQ01ABF050 and ST500LT012-1DG142.
