It was a 5,400 RPM 2.5" 7 mm hard drive model, succeeding the Hitachi HTS547550A9E384, upgrading to SATA 3.0, 500 GB/platters, and reducing platter count to one and z-height to 7 mm. Units prior to 2014 were based on the Jaguar-1B platform, whereas units since 2014 were instead based on the Jaguar-1BR platform, which introduced a new top lid and label. It complements parent company Western Digital's WDC WD5000LPVX-xxV0TTx, being produced concurrently prior to being discontinued.
