WDC WD1600JS-xxNCBx

From Computing Classics Wiki

WDC WD1600JS-xxNCBx was a hard drive model created by Western Digital. As a Caviar SE drive, it had an enhanced 8 MB of cache, and also sported a secondary Molex power port, a courtesy common of many drives at the time. Compared to the SATA 1.0 models WDC WD1600JD-xxFYBx/WDC WD1600JD-xxGBBx/WDC WD1600JD-xxHBBx/WDC WD1600JD-xxHBCx, the WD2500JS-xxNCBx, like all other WD2500JS models, is based on the newer Marvell platform Hawk, rather than the older Caviar platform Eagle that is used on the WD2500JD models, or the Starling platform used for Marvell-based PATA models. This model was revised into WDC WD2500JS-xxTGBx, and properly succeeded by the WDC WD1600AAJS-xxPSAx, which switched to the all-new Sequoia platform that added ramp loading and 160 GB platters, double the density of the WD1600JS-xxNCBx.
