It succeeded the ST3500641AS, requiring one less platter, and formed one of Seagate's main 500 GB models as part of the Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 lineup. This model was succeeded by the ST3500620AS, which required one less platter. Similar models from other manufacturers include the WDC WD5000AAKS-xxTMAx et al Western Digital models, SAMSUNG HD501LJ and Hitachi HDT725050VLA360,
