List of Seagate model number codes (2011-present)

From Computing Classics Wiki

This is a list of Seagate model number codes used on Seagate hard drive models starting from 2011 until the present.[1] This article excludes the part number, which is reported to host as a suffix connected by a dash to the main model number.

Prefix: ST[edit | edit source]

All new Seagate model numbers begin with ST, as with the previous format. Provision was made for models that start in MX, after Maxtor, but no such models were released.

Numbers: Capacity[edit | edit source]

The numerical portion of the model number denotes the drive's capacity, in gigabytes.

Letter infix: Product segment[edit | edit source]

The two-letter infix on the model number denote the product segment of the drive model in question, indicating the intended purpose of the drive, and often implying branding.

Some enterprise models also come with a letter suffix that also denotes generation.
