WDC WD42PURZ-xxB4YYx

WDC WD42PURZ-xxB4YYx is a hard drive model created by Western Digital. It is a 2 TB 3.5" CMR hard drive. It is similar to the previous WDC WD41PURX-xxU8AYx, even sharing the same family tree of Venice, but now is CMR. Despite this, TRIM still is supported and other oddities can be observed in write behaviour. It also has a reduced RPM of 5,040, compared to the plain 5,400 RPM; this model is the lowest rotation rate 4 TB Purple released. A successor returning to 5,400 RPM and featuring slightly higher sequential performance, the WD43PURZ-xxBWPYx, was later released in 2022.
