Apollo CR is a hard drive platform created by Western Digital. Despite the name, Apollo CR shares little mechanical similarity with the previous Apollo, although its members fulfil the same capacity tiers. Instead, Apollo CR shares the same HDA and PCB as the maligned Venice R platform, but with its shingled magnetic recording functions disabled. This allows Apollo CR to achieve classical CMR performance in exchange for a lower 1.6 TB/platter density.
