Toshiba S300

From Computing Classics Wiki

Toshiba S300 is a hard drive family created by Toshiba. This family consists of a mixture of rebranded Toshiba MD04ABAxxxV, Toshiba DT02ABAxxxV, Toshiba DT01ABAxxxV and Toshiba MD06ACAxxxV (for the Pro versions) families.[1] Regular S300s are 5,400 RPM and contain SMR models, whereas the S300 Pros exclusively contain 7,200 CMR drives.

History

The Toshiba S300 family was announced in 2018, along with the Toshiba V300 series. Along with the arrival of this series came a rebrand of the labels to add more colours, especially to the family name.

In 2020, along with the announcement of the SMR models, the S300 7,200 drives were split into their own subfamily, the S300 Pro.[2][lower-alpha 1]
