Toshiba P300
Toshiba P300 is a hard drive family created by Toshiba. This family consists of rebranded Toshiba DT01ACA and Toshiba DT02 models, and is targeted at standard desktop PC applications, similarly to its competitors Western Digital Blue Desktop and Seagate BarraCuda.[3] Therefore, the 7,200 RPM CMR models cover capacities from 500 GB to 3 TB, while the 5,400 RPM SMR models offer the highest capacity in this family from 2 to 6 TB. This family was accompanied by the now-discontinued Toshiba E300 family, which carried 5,700 or 5,940 RPM drives, and the Toshiba X300 family, which is also for PCs (albeit of the performance workstation or gaming type) but with capacities 4 TB and greater, and is instead based on binned Toshiba enterprise drives (rather than Hitachi HDA-based drives as with P300).
History
The P300 was one of three initial retail focused 3.5" families, along with the X300 and E300. The first four models were all based on the DT01ACA family from 500 GB upwards, and are 7,200 RPM CMR drives.[1]
In late 2017, to coincide with the release of the Toshiba S300 and Toshiba V300, a new label design was introduced, prominently featuring the family name and simplifying the purpose text from "High-Performance Hard Drive" to "PC".
In 2019, the first of three SMR drives was released; the 4 TB HDWD240. The 2 and 6 TB models, which are the HDWD220 and HDWD260 respectively, were announced for and released in 2020.[2]

Trivia
- This family was formerly distinguished by carrying 7,200 RPM models while the E300 carried 5,000-class models; however, with the addition of the SMR 5,400 RPM models, this distinction is no longer accurate.
