Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 was a hard drive model family created by Seagate. This family succeeded the Seagate Barracuda 7200.11, increasing density to 500 GB/platter and was released in 2009. Despite this, the maximum capacity offered did not increase past 1 TB, as no model from this family utilised more than two platters, unlike its sibling Seagate Barracuda LP. It competed against the Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.C. This family was formally succeeded by a new revision based on Grenada models, soon to be rebranded as Seagate Desktop HDD.
