Samsung Spinpoint M8

Samsung Spinpoint M8, later marketed as Seagate Spinpoint M8, was a hard drive family created by Samsung and later manufacturered under supervision by Seagate. It is the first 2.5" 9.5 mm 1 TB laptop hard drive family, and succeeds the previous Spinpoint M7E. It is the first Samsung hard drive family to deploy Advanced Format. This family was later used as the basis for many Seagate hard drive families, like Seagate Laptop HDD and Seagate Video 2.5 HDD, displacing the need for Seagate to design in-house alternatives. It was eventually fully replaced with the Mobile HDD, which used SMR platters to achieve the same 1 TB capacity.
