Seagate Barracuda, informally known as the Barracuda 7200.14, was a hard drive family created by Seagate. It succeeded the Barracuda 7200.12 and Green families, increasing the maximum capacity to 3 TB, and depending entirely on the Grenada platform. This family marks a temporary abandonment of the 5,400 RPM class, as Seagate deemed it uneconomical to provide for this market considering advancements in 7,200 RPM power efficiency, though eventually this decision would be reversed. This family was also quite short lived, being rebranded to the more generic Desktop HDD family, and marking the end of the Barracuda name until it returned as the BarraCuda family in 2016, replacing the Desktop HDD branding.
