HGST Travelstar Z5K500

HGST Travelstar Z5K500 was a hard drive product family made by Hitachi and later HGST. It is HGST's second generation of 7 mm drives, utilising 500 GB platters and Advanced Format. It complemented parent company Western Digital's Blue family. This family was released in 2011.[1] was succeeded by the Z5K500.B family, which was manufactured by Western Digital using the HubLT2 platform.

Trivia
- Two different generations of this family exist. Units made before 2014 are codenamed Jaguar-1B and look identical to the Eagle-B7 platform used for the Z5K320. Units made at some point in or after 2014 use the Jaguar-1BR platform, with a redesigned label and more substantial cutout for the heads.
