Toshiba S300 is a hard drive family created by Toshiba. This family consists of a mixture of rebranded Toshiba MD04-V, Toshiba DT02-V, Toshiba DT02-VH, Toshiba DT01-V and Toshiba MD06-V (for the Pro versions only) families.[1] Regular S300s are 5,400 RPM or 5,700 RPM and contain SMR models, whereas the S300 Pros exclusively contain 7,200 CMR drives.
History
The Toshiba S300 family was announced in 2018, along with the Toshiba V300 series. Along with the arrival of this series came a rebrand of the labels to add more colours, especially to the family name.[2]
In 2020, along with the announcement of the initial two SMR models, the S300 7,200 drives were split into their own subfamily, the S300 Pro.[3][lower-alpha 1] In 2021, a new set of 256 MiB cache models were released, namely the HDWT840 and HDWT860, which are 4 and 6 TB respectively.[4]
