Western Digital AV-GP is a hard drive family created by Western Digital. It is a variant of the Caviar GP, Green and later Blue 5,400 RPM members designed for consumer electronics DVRs. It succeeds the AV family, which had higher rotation rate 7,200 RPM models, as DVRs quickly abandoned 7,200 RPM in favour of the cooler and more energy efficient over long workload 5,400 RPM category.
