Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.D is a hard drive family created by Hitachi. It is the successor to the Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.C, the first 7200 RPM Deskstar family to include 1 TB platters (reducing the 1 TB platter amount to one), as well as the final Deskstar family, being largely supplanted by the Western Digital Blue Desktop after Hitachi GST was purchased by Western Digital. Most models from this family were sold simultaneously by Toshiba under their Toshiba DT01ACA family; this family continued to be produced even after the 7K1000.D's discontinuation.[1] All models in this family spin at 7,200 RPM. An accompanying family, the Hitachi Deskstar 5K1000.B, was based on the same HDA but spun at 5,700 RPM, consistent with CoolSpin standards.
